Dr. Jeff Harries is a family physician in Penticton BC and the leader of the South Okanagan Community of Practice. His group of physicians selected a single EMR system for their geographic area, funded and supported through PITO (Physician Information Technology Office) in British Columbia. He discusses the benefits and challenges of selecting and implementing an EMR in a geographic area in both GP and specialist practices. He also discusses some of the unexpected benefits that his group has identified while going down this path.
